Invenciones De La Inventiva
The “Invenciones de la Inventiva” project focuses on Spanish language translations of episodes from the award winning Engines of Our Ingenuity, a radio program that tells the story of how our culture is formed by human creativity. Written and hosted by Dr. John Lienhard and other contributors, it is heard nationally on Public Radio and produced by KUHF-FM, Houston Public Radio.
The Invenciones de la Inventiva project is dedicated to creating teaching materials based on translated Engines episodes that can be used in in elementary bilingual classrooms, middle, high school and college Spanish language classes for Second Language and Heritage Learners. Public school teachers translate selected episodes that have been chosen to advance students' knowledge of the Spanish language and promote an interest in Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Many of teachers involved in the project create digital stories to add a visual element to the Engines audio broadcast and use these stories as a multimedia component of the instructional materials they develop.

Hoaxes!
The digital stories presented on the Hoxes! website are based on narrative text from selected episodes of The Engines of Our Ingenuity, written and recorded by University of Houston professor, John Lienhard. Digital versions of photographs, drawings, works of art, animations, video clips and other multimedia resources were used to illustrate twelve episodes of the Engines of our Ingenuity, each dealing with a differnt type of Hoax.

The War Experience: Memories of World War II
The War Experience web site was designed as an educational resource for teachers and their students as well as anyone interested in learning more about American soldiers, sailors and marines who served in the Second World War or were affected by it. The site contains digital stories created by graduate students and faculty members at the University of Houston, as well as personal stories submitted by individuals who were affected directly or indirectly by the war and its aftermath.
The site was created to support THE WAR, a 14-hour documentary from acclaimed filmmaker, Ken Burns that focuses on Americans and their experience in World War 2. THE WAR was broadcast on more than 100 public television stations throughout the United States beginning in September, 2007 and is currently available on DVD.
