The 50 Ways to Tell a Story website was created by Alan Levine, and features a comprehensive view of many different free Web 2.0 tools that can be used to create and distribute digital stories.

Animoto allows you to create short photomontages from still images, add text and a soundtrack and save or share your creations.

Dvolver Moviemaker

Dvolver Moviemaker allows users to create short animated
videos with cartoon figures. You can select from different locations, backgrounds, plots, characters, titles and music.
When completed, projects may be emailed to others or posted to a blog.
Xtranormal

Xtranormal is a popular Web 2.0 tool that lets users create animated movies with multiple characters and locations. One of Xtranormal's most interesting features is that you can type what you want each character to say and that text will be turned into synthesized speech that can be heard through your computer's speakers.
VoiceThread

VoiceThread is another creative Web 2.0 tool that utilizes audio in interesting ways. You can upload still images or video clips to the VoiceThread website and add audio comments with a microphone or even a telephone. Others may also add their own comments audio comments by using a microphone or telephone, or they may add video comments with a webcam.

Tabblo is a story-style photo sharing site that allows users to upload images and add text descriptions,
which may be viewed as web pages or slideshows. Stylized templates are available and may be customized to add interest to your photo collections. Projects may be published on the Tabblo website where online visitors may post comments, or they may shared on other websites or blogs.
